Our Centre had successfully provided affordable childcare under the Non Profit $25 a day pilot project for over 3 years for families in High River and now we are under the NEW Alberta/Federal ELCC agreement that reduces fees for parents.
We are awaiting further federal government announcements for reduced child care fees as we move towards the $10 a day goal.
We have six advisory board members at Daydreams ELCC, comprised of people with business knowledge, Early Learning Professionals and Parents; together we have a strong direction and knowledge base that enhances all our programs.

I feel like the worst of the winter is behind us and with the dawning of a new year I am ready to look forward.
We started this new year with a hopeful heart digging deep into making plans and goals for 2024.
Our management team met and put together an ambitious strategic plan for both programs this year and we are very excited to hit the floor running.
Our intentions this year will be to focus on Family Involvement, Outdoor Play Enhancements and Educator Well Being.
Our professional learning day for the educators on January 26th was a fun day of connection, learning and goal setting for each educator. The educators focused their thoughts on Intentional teaching and how to enhance their practice. Each educator had opportunity to present their ideas for our upcoming Art Showcase.
We have some ambitious educators who are diving into their learning journeys, and we can not wait to celebrate their educational achievements later this year. Among our colleagues we have 4 educators upgrading at secondary institutions to receive their diplomas in Early Learning. 2 more educators have begun their Flight journey with MacEwan University and several more educators are enrolled in various, workshops, conferences, and seminars. We are so proud of our team’s dedication to the field of Early Learning and Childcare. High Quality Care starts with highly qualified educators.
We have signed onto the 2024/2025 Affordability Grant and are so excited to see our parents receiving a significant reduction in their childcare fees. We are meeting the target of $15 a day on average for fees after the grant and subsidies have been deducted. We like many other programs, we are experiencing challenges with the timeline and roll out of this new funding such as, the funding arriving 6 weeks after the start of each month, funding being too low to meet the true cost of care and the inflated expenses we are experiencing, no compensation for educators to meet the rising cost of living and funding based on enrollment rather than capacity. We want to thank Ms. Jewel for her continued support and advocacy with the government. Ms. Jewel is a true steward for early learning and works tirelessly advocating for the needs of operators in Alberta. Check out her radio interviews on Sun Country! We also want to thank the many board members and parents who wrote letters to the Alberta government and advocated for a better future for their children as this grant is unfolded.
We are extremely excited to announce our First Annual Children’s Art Showcase & Sale Fundraiser to be held on Friday, February 16th. The educators and children have been working really hard on some amazingly creative art pieces to showcase and sell to families. This fundraiser will raise money to purchase new art supplies for our upcoming year of creative expression with our young artists.
In conjunction with our Art Showcase, we will also be hosting an OPEN HOUSE. We are excited to invite and welcome all members of the community to come for a tour of our programs, meet our educators and discover what makes Daydreams Early Learning Centres so special. We hope to see you all on Friday, February 16th 6pm-8pm.
Our Play Academy continues to grow as we welcome more and more preschool age children into the world of early learning. Early learning programs work on the same concepts as traditional preschools in a variety of curriculums. Daydreams enhances the preschool and pre-kindergarten readiness skills through a learning through play lens. Please check out the Play Academy tab to discover all the preschool learning that happens in an early learning program.
Just a reminder we will be CLOSED Monday, February 19th for Family Day, Friday March 8th for a PD Day & March 29thfor Good Friday.
